Happy Friday!  As we approach Thanksgiving I am reminded that it’s the simple things in life that bring me the most joy and for this I am so grateful.

Recently my son who is in kindergarden came home with a homework assignment to take pictures of patterns he sees in his home.   Of course, I thought this was a great project and was excited to see what he would come up with.   I handed over my i Phone and off he went.  10 minutes later he hands over the phone to me and shows me these pictures and says, “Mom, I finished my homework and maybe you can blog about these pictures too?   There’s one picture in there that’s not so much a pattern, but cool, right?”

There’s nothing simple about being a parent, but there’s no doubt it brings me a lot of joy (and no sleep)!  How could I not appreciate his take on pattern, his contribution to my blog and of course, his great love of Star Wars?

This year I am most thankful to be able to be a parent, thankful to my own parents and grateful to all people who mentor children…be it through parenting, teaching, an aunt, an uncle, being a friend or simply put just being present for our little people.    They are our future leaders even if they think it’s on the Millennium Falcon.  There’s no doubt each of us leave a lasting impression with each of them.
