“Anyone? Anyone?”

Anyone?  Anyone?

Is anyone reading this blog entry – my blog that I love so much that I’ve neglected for far too long?    I totally feel like Ben Stein in the classic, all time favorite movie, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,  when no one is listening and I,  like the character he plays in this movie, it is much deserved.

Shame on me for being so absent and neglecting something that means so much to me and thanks to all my supporters who took roll call  ”Maya? Maya?”  when I was absent and cared enough to notice when I was not there.  (Who am I kidding?…it was my Mom.)  In all seriousness,   I missed my blog very much….like an old friend it’s always there when you need it.

As much as I missed writing,  I’ve been busy decorating!!!  The good news is my creative juices and energy have been hard at work  dreaming, imagining and teaming up with the best clients creating spaces that tell their story.    This includes recently building our new home,Big Dreams. Deep Breath. Deep Gratitude. …..the Big Dig.  (I’ll be sharing some more of our home building journey in some up-coming blogs.)

The truth is I had no idea how consuming owning your own business is.   Sure, I’ve read about it and have heard this from other small business owners, however, living it is a whole other story.

Having M. Interiors in my life is exhilarating…I love almost every minute of it.    I love that I learn something new everyday and work closely with incredible people with something so special to them, their home.  I enjoy (although at times a bit overwhelming) having a list of things I want to learn more about,  articles marked  to read, people I want to meet, vendors I want to work more with, design styles that I want to explore,  new software tools to implement, taking timely photographs of my completed work,  targeting projects that I’d love to win.  The list goes on and on…

That said,  I have been continuing to grow as designer and getting more involved in bathroom and kitchen designs.

I’m always looking for non-traditional ways for everyday things and I know attention to the details always matter.

I’ve been infusing some exciting and sexy materials into rooms – Cowhide!  Or taking very typical materials, porcelain tile,  and giving it new life –  a herringbone cut for M. Interiors office floors!

I continue to infuse pattern and color!

I continue to build new vendor relationships and deepen existing relationships with vendors to infuse custom pieces into my designs.

When it comes down to it,  in life I think it’s fair to say that we want to be heard, to know we matter…if you are absent and someone takes  roll call they notice….be it our partner, our kids, our boss, our friends, our clients and yes, our moms….

As a designer, I continue to grow in this field and push my boundaries to try new things all while ensuring my clients can trust me.  I’m amazed by my wonderful clients and  I realize even more than ever that our homes are a space that help each of us to be seen,  to be present,  to express ourselves, to be ourselves, to illustrate our individuality, yet appreciate differences…..our homes tell our stories.

Well, that’s just a glimpse  (more details to come!) of  some of what I’ve been up to. Oh! and of course, I’ve been busy hang’in with this incredible group of people.

Until next time….Be seen….Know.  You.  Matter.

~M

Welcome back and thank you for your always eloquent and inspiring words. I find myself needing to help others with blogs for my work these days and always look to you as the example to follow – to write about things you are passionate and informed about and don’t forget to express you opinions. ;)

You’re an inspiration for sure Maya! I have multiple blogs lying in blog purgatory – time to dust them off!
